Small Self-Portrait

A collage of sorts. Oil pastel drawing on paper, covered with cut mylar, tape, and painted on top - on wooden panel. (12x12 inches)

By leaving the background visible, you created a link between the surface and the tangible items. In other words, the wood panel relates to the collage objects in that both are, of course, not paint. A very good balance/play between painterly and non-painterly, so to speak, in this work.

thank you daniel and soren- i appreciate both of your comments!

soren- yes, the natural wood of the panel emphasizes the picture as an 'object.' this is a quality that my finished paintings don't really achieve so i am enjoying the quality of the panels- will do more.
