By leaving the background visible, you created a link between the surface and the tangible items. In other words, the wood panel relates to the collage objects in that both are, of course, not paint. A very good balance/play between painterly and non-painterly, so to speak, in this work.

soren- yes, the natural wood of the panel emphasizes the picture as an 'object.' this is a quality that my finished paintings don't really achieve so i am enjoying the quality of the panels- will do more.
